CLIENT: Myers University
The television and radio spots created increased brand recognition in the seven-county area targeted by the campaign: Cuyahoga, Summit, Lake, Lorain, Geauga, Medina and Portage counties.
Razor Marketing was faced with the difficulty of creating an identity for an entity that had changed its name twice over the past five years. What is now known as Myers University was initially Dyke College, then became David N. Myers College before changing to its current name.
These repeated name changes created a major problem with brand recognition for Myers University. Prospective students and the educational community in general did not have an accurate picture of who and what Myers University is, and of what Myers University is all about. In fact Myers University had been pushed into the background of education in Northeast Ohio, and Razor Marketing was challenged with elevating the brand name.
Razor Marketing used a brand endorsement style of advertising in its campaign for Myers University. The campaign was centered on both television and radio spots in that attempt to garner the desired brand recognition. The radio spots featured local radio personalities in the Cleveland and Akron markets, while the television spot featured Myers University personnel in an attempt to put a face on what Myers University is all about.
